We were so chuffed to be asked to take part in this late summer shoot organised by the talented Elizabeth Kelly Weddings. Her vision was to create a small wedding atmosphere for the urban and stylish couple. Set in Chancery Lane, London we all created beautiful pieces to create the ‘Love in the City’ brief she set out for.
Now that smaller localised weddings look highly likely for the rest of 2020 and into 2021, it’s great to have some new inspiration for small weddings in London. There’s lots of little differences we can have to still make the day special and memorable without the big guest list.
Firstly, we love the bride model wears a more daring choice of outfit away from the traditional long dress. This jumpsuit from Yaura Fashion is certainly something to consider if you’re looking for a unique bridal outfit, comfort can play a part in this.
If planning a small wedding, there are vastly more options in terms of venue choice as there are more spaces able to hold 15 or 30 people. A lot of pubs have event rooms and can offer a more sophisticated menu for fewer guests. This shoot took place at the Pregnant Man Pub - a trendy bar with casual ambience and private dining available.
With fewer guests also comes less cost per head for the food, enabling you to spend more money on little details such as the flowers. We absolutely love the work created by Katie Isitt from Kidge Flowers. Flower installations for micro weddings can turn any space or event into something epic. Try a mix of dried and fresh flowers for something really on trend.
Another unique wedding detail you can create for your guests is some beautiful stationery upon each place setting. Here, we created vellum transparent menus clipped with a name tag for each guest. Transparent stationery at weddings has become a trend in the last year or two and we love it! It creates am ultra modern look, perfect for that city chic style.
With fewer guests, there is less need for a large table plan and so we created these small table plan cards (postcard size) which are very adaptable in and around the venue and can be transported easily. For this shoot, the cards were styled brilliantly with photographs to add a real personal touch and display something your guests will enjoy.
We really feel for couples who have had to postpone their weddings again and again during these Covid times. We hope the above can give you some inspiration of how to get excited about having smaller gatherings and events as we face this going into 2021.
